‘We take less pressure now’ Babar reveals winning strategy against India

DUBAI: Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam revealed that his team has now learned to control their nerves in the high-voltage match against India which played a crucial role in the national team’s victory against India on Sunday in the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2022.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the team’s second encounter in the Super Fours stage against Afghanistan, Babar was asked whether the team had learned to beat India in the international tournaments, to which he claimed that the team had started to take less pressure for the match against arch-rival.

“We are not taking as much pressure that we used to take against India,” said Babar.

“The win (against India) has given us a lot of confidence. It feels great when the team does well,” he added.

The skipper further said that it took time to build a strong team and the way the middle order had contributed to the team’s victory it was tremendous.

Moreover, Babar stated that wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan would undergo a CT scan while heaping praises on the opener for his optimism and valiance.

“I haven’t seen a player as brave as Rizwan,” said Babar. ” He is very optimistic that everything will be fine. He always has this positive mindset” he added.

While talking about his slump with the bat during the ongoing Asia Cup, the world no 1 T20I batter said it was a part of the game.

“Every captain has this wish to lift the trophy and we are confident that we will give our hundred per cent (in Asia Cup). I used to think about not producing the performances but it is just a part of the game,” he said.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old stated that he was still in the learning phase of captaincy and would keep learning more in that role.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan beat arch-rival India by five wickets in a nail-biting thriller on Sunday. The team will now lock horns against Afghanistan on Wednesday to cement its chances to qualify for the final of the event.
