Asian champion Wazeer ready to face Seesa for World Youth title

BANGKOK: Pakistani star boxer and Asian Champion Usman Wazeer is set to face Thai opponent Somphot Seesa for the WBO World Welterweight Youth title on Wednesday in the Highland Boxing Show in Bangkok.

The 22-year-old Wazeer is the first Pakistani boxer to compete for the WBO Youth title.

Wazeer won the WBA Asia welterweight title by defeating Thailand’s Phatiphan Krungklang in the recently held first-ever professional boxing event in Gilgit. The Pakistani boxing star has been undefeated in the eight fights.

The Gilgit-hailed boxer has been optimistic about his triumph in the championship bout.

Both the boxers underwent official weight-measuring and posed for the face-off before the much-anticipated fight. The fearless Wazeer looked confident to overpower his opponent in the fight and add another feather to his cap.

It is pertinent to mention that Wazeer had already clinched ABF Asian title and World Boxing Council’s Middle East title.

Sharing a video message before one of the biggest fights of his career, Wazeer hoped that he would make the whole nation proud tomorrow and urged the nation to pray for his victory.

“It is the biggest fight of my career. It is an honour for me to qualify for the World Youth title fight,” he said.
